Woods is a Wildcat

Shawnee (Kan.) Mill Valley cornerback Justin Woods recently took home the title as the fastest man in the state of Kansas. So when he was offered a scholarship on Tuesday night it's no surprise that he quickly jumped on the scholarship offer.
"It happened last night," said Woods, who won the 100-meter and 200-meter championships this past week at the Kansas State track meet. "I was talking to Ron Prince, and he offered me a full ride. He told me to think about it a little bit, and I talked things over with my parents and decided to go ahead and commit.

"He welcomed me as a Wildcat, and I already feel like I'm part of the team. He just made me feel at home, and I'd been leaning toward K-State for quite some time. I like the academics there and feel they're going to be a very good program over the next couple of years. They're going to be back on top where they belong."
Woods did get May calls from Kansas, Colorado, Colorado State, Michigan State, Wyoming and Missouri, but the Wildcats were his first scholarship offer. He was recruited by Wildcat defensive coordinator Raheem Morris.
"Coach Morris is a really great guy and really neat to be around," Woods said. "He's very positive and he said they loved me as an athlete and think I could play a bunch of different positions."
Woods won the 100 meters at state with a time of 10.56 seconds. He won the 200 meters with a time of 21.44 and he also played a role in having his team have the best time in the state this year in the 4X100 meter relay and the 4X400 meter relay.
On the football field, he returned five kickoffs for touchdowns in 2005. At running back he rushed for 1,100 yards and played corner on the defensive side of the ball. His coach George Radell thinks he's going to be an excellent college player.
"He's got great linear speed," Radell said. "When he is returning kicks if he finds a lane he will go all the way. Or if a tackler takes a bad angle on him he will be tough to catch."
