Wood picks up first offer

Luke Wood missed some camps this summer because of a pulled hamstring but the 6-foot-4, 240-pound defensive end from Placentia (Calif.) El Dorado impressed enough at the Air Force camp to pick up his first offer.
That's where Wood injured himself too so the trip was mixed with good and bad news but he's pleased with getting on the board and is definitely interested in Air Force heading into the fall.

"They had me go to their (camp) a couple weeks ago and they had me run the 40, the shuttle, my height and weight and they had me do the vertical and they showed me around the campus," Wood said.
"Then they called me a week later and told me they wanted to offer me a scholarship and then they sent me a letter with the same thing on it.
"It's a serious option for me. I would definitely go there. It's up on my list. I really liked the campus, it was really big and really nice up there. I really liked the weight room too. They had a good weight room. I also liked their coaches. They seem very nice and inviting and it seemed like they really wanted me. I felt comfortable up there."
During defensive drills at Air Force's camp, Wood injured his hamstring and had to miss the Cal Poly camp. He said he's getting healthier and is now just focused on getting back to the field for his senior season.
Northern Arizona has started to show a lot more interest and Boise State, San Diego State, Nebraska, Columbia, Cornell and Bryant are all involved as well.
Even though Air Force is high on his list the plan is to wait out his recruitment a little longer to see if any other schools offer.
"I'm going to wait it out a little bit to see what else I can get and hopefully I'll get some other offers maybe," Wood said.
