Wood enjoys Boston College

Poway (Calif.) defensive lineman Nick Wood took his first official visit of the year this past weekend to Boston College. Although the lineman plans to take four more trips, the Eagles definitely made a strong impression on him.
"I really had a good time," Wood. "We played on Thursday so Friday, I went to the school and then took the red-eye to Boston. I had a layover in Phoenix so when I got in to Boston, it was about 5:00 in the morning.

"I checked in to my hotel, got about three hours of sleep and then we headed over to the campus. The stadium is right there on campus and it's a pretty small campus which was nice. I took a little tour of the school and then we headed over to the stadium.
"They really have a beautiful campus and stadium and the game atmosphere was really nice. When I first walked inside, I looked out and the seats were half empty and I was wondering, 'is this all the fans they get.' By the game time though, the place was pretty packed and it was a real exciting game (double overtime win over BYU) so everyone was really in to it.
"After the game, I went in to the locker room and had a chance to celebrate with the team. I found out that win made Coach O'Brien the all time leader in victories at the school so that was pretty cool to see and be a part of that.
"Brady Smith was my host and afterwards, he and some of the players on the team took me around, showed me what Boston is like on a Saturday night and I had a really good town. I think it's definitely a place where I could see myself and Boston has a lot going on there. It's a big city with a lot to do so I really liked it.
"On Sunday, I met with Coach O'Brien and Coach Willis, the DL coach and really liked him a lot. They knew it was my first trip and all so they didn't even bring up the possibility of me committing, which was good. After that, I got back on the plane and headed home. Overall, I had a great visit and Boston College is right up there at the top of my list."
Wood will next visit Arizona State (Sept. 29) and said he's also close to setting a visit to Colorado when they play Baylor.
"I'm not sure about the last two visits," Wood said. "I'm still looking at a lot of schools. Washington, Wake Forest, North Carolina State and a few others. I also just sent out film of my first three games to some schools so we'll see if that brings any new interest.
"I'll probably give it a couple of weeks and if no one else jumps in, I'll just focus on the schools that have already offered me. I do want to take all five trips and once I do that, I'll be compare all the schools to each other and make a good decision."
On the season, Poway is 2-1 and Wood estimated he has right around 25-30 tackles with four and half sacks.
