Wood adds another major offer

Oxnard (Calif.) Santa Clara running back Cierre Wood has done everything to prove on the field that he's one of the nation's top junior prospects for the class of 2009.
Now he's also getting it done off the field.

With early scholarship offers from Florida, Nebraska, San Diego State, USC and Wake Forest on his resume, Wood, who is 6-foot and 176 pounds, has now added another major offer to the list.
"Cierre received his sixth scholarship offer, this time from the University of Notre Dame," Santa Clara athletic director Mike Schabert said Tuesday morning.
"I believe Cierre is only the fourth official scholarship offer from Notre Dame in the class of 2009."
Wood has had a masterful high school career so far. As a sophomore, he rushed for 1,407 yards and 17 touchdowns.
This season, Wood has rushed for 1,470 yards in only eight games. He's averaging a whopping 14.41 yards a carry and has a long of 93 yards.
