Wolfpack Counter With Star Commitment

It seems that North Carolina and NC State are taking turns pulling in the top in-state talent. With UNC's recent commitment from defensive end Marcus Hands, surely it had to be NC State's turn. Today the Wolfpack countered with an impressive commitment of their own.
"Chris committed to NC State this afternoon," said Henderson (N.C.) Southern Vance athletic director Ed Wilson of stanout athlete Chris Hawkins. "He choose NC State over North Carolina, Virginia, Clemson and some others."

Hawkins, a 6-foot-3, 185-pounder who can play quarterback, wide receiver or defensive back, had an offer from both NC State and North Carolina but decided on the 'Pack.
"Chris had a lot of interest and more and more schools started getting involved," said Wilson. "He just felt the most comfortable at NC State."
Hawkins is one of the top five players in North Carolina this year and is the sixth commitment already for the Wolfpack coaching staff. Last season, NC State didn't get their second commitment until their football season started.
