Woleslagel attracting more attention

Fremont (Ohio) Ross outside linebacker Brad Woleslagel has seen his team get off to a 3-1 start to their season. Their only loss was a 12-0 defeat at the hands of Cleveland Benedictine last weekend, but the strong start has also featured strong play from the 6-1, 205-pound Woleslagel and coaches are taking notice.
"Benedictine was the best game I had all year," said Woleslagel who is averaging 10 tackles a game and has two sacks on the season. "It was such a physical game."

A scholarship offer from Air Force came before the summer, but schools like Ohio, Eastern Michigan, Bowling Green, Toledo and Kent State have been closely following Woleslagel's progress. Now that fall has come and they are able to make calls, the standout linebacker has been in contact with several assistant coaches from those schools.
"I get a bunch of calls from coaches during the week and (Ross head coach Derek) Kidwell said he's talked to a bunch of coaches who said they were coming out later in the year to watch us," Woleslagel said. "All of them want to see a lot of film. They talk to Coach Tidwell and get film from him each week and watch them progressively."
While more offers could find their way to his mailbox following a strong senior season, Woleslagel is already pleased with the offer he does have from Air Force and is giving the Falcons serious consideration.
"The Air Force is a great opportunity. That definitely interests me a lot," Woleslagel said. "I played traveling baseball with a kid who is on scholarship for baseball out there and I get to talk to him a lot. I get a lot of feedback on what it is like, basic training and then he knows a lot of kids who play football out there so I got to talk to them to see how football is out there. He tells me once basic training is over it's just like any other school."
Outside of the Air Force staff, Woleslagel talks most often with the coaches at Bowling Green, Ohio and Eastern Michigan.
"Bowling Green and Ohio, I like both of those schools a lot for both academic and athletic reasons," he said. "They're pretty close to home and at OU I know kids on their team so I have a pretty good idea of what's going on and how their system runs. It gives me a pretty good idea, if I choose to go to school there, what to expect. Plus, I like both campuses and they both invited me to games this year so I'll see more when I get a chance to visit."
Currently, Woleslagel has plans to unofficially visit Bowling Green Oct. 4, Kent State Oct. 11 and Toledo Nov. 28. He also has an official visit set up to Air Force for Nov. 15 where he will tour the base, talk with the coaching staff and watch their game against BYU that weekend.
Woleslagel earned All-Greater Buckeye Conference honors as a junior after tallying 74 tackles, including seven for loss. In the classroom he carries a 3.2 GPA and scored a 20 on the ACT. He plans to study Business Management in college.
