WKU target Amari Colbert talks Hilltoppers, 4 TD performance

The Latest: Class of 2017 wide receiver Amari Colbert went into last week's season-opening game with high hopes, but even he exceeded his expectations when he hauled in 10 passes for 168 yards and four touchdowns. It helped that Colbert's quarterback is Rivals100 Georgia commit Jake Fromm, but even so, it figures to help his recruitment quite a bit. Rivals.com caught up with Colbert to get the latest on his recruitment, including his thoughts on his most notable offer to day, Western Kentucky.

In His Words: "Western Kentucky was actually messaging me while the game was going on. I went into the locker room and Coach Ellis was already telling me “good job” and good touchdown and just keep doing what I’m doing. It’s something special to have that relationship. Everyone doesn’t get blessed to have that. I take it and I run with it. It means a a lot to me that they've offered me because I always remember my first ones. That’s what my mom engrained in me. Remember who was there when nobody else was. I want to get up there for an official visit but I haven’t set it up yet."

Rivals Reaction: Colbert has five offers to his name but heading into the year he was viewed as more of a fringe FBS/FCS prospect. Now that he appears to be Fromm's favorite target, he could easily have a breakout season and perhaps even catch the eye of a Power Five program. Western Kentucky was smart to get on him early, and hopefully for Hilltoppers fans they get him on campus sooner rather than later for a visit.
