"I'm officially committed to Western Kentucky," the nation's No. 42 ranked defensive tackle said. "It's a great school and the football team is on the rise and I knew it was the place for me."
Darvin picked up offers from the likes of Tennessee and Louisville throughout his recruitment, but the Hilltoppers early season success, which included a win in Darvin's hometown, went a long way toward helping his choose WKU.
"They've grown accustomed to winning," Darvin said. "Eve those, tough, close games Coach Brohm has his players ready to give that extra drive they need to pull out a win. It was great to see other players from Nashville shine on that field and I hope I can do the same."
With WKU's recent record of success, Darvin said he hopes to be a part of several more big games.
"They're in a great conference but yet every year they are contending for championships and that's what I want to do," he said. "I want to play for conference championships and bowl games and I think I can do that there."
Like most players entering college, Darvin also has dreams of reaching the next level, and the Hilltoppers record of success of putting players in the NFL is also something he found attractive.
"They have shown that they have NFL-ready players on their team and those are guys they developed," Darvin said. "Coach Dunn has some great experience and I think he can really help me develop as a player and reach my goals."
The state of Tennessee and the Nashville area specifically have been very good to WKU when it comes to recruiting, and Darvin said he's already familiar with several player on the Hilltopppers roster.
"I have a few friends that go to Western, both on the team and at school," he said. "Not to mention it's close to home so my family will be there to see me play every game."
All of those factors, combined with the campus life and the opportunity to play early, made it an easy call for Darvin.
"It's a great town and the students and fans really support the team," Darvin said. "The coaching staff seemed really excited to have me and I think I will get a chance to get some significant minutes my freshman year. I can't wait."
Darvin is commitment No. 15 for the Hilltoppers in the Class of 2016 and is the second three star, joining Hallandale Beach, Fla. wide receiver Chris Cotto.
