Wisconsin kicker ready for junior days

Whitefish Bay, Wis., junior kicker and punter Chris Hagerup is his team's starting quarterback, but it is his kicking and punting talents that will likely take him to the next level.
"I'd like to play quarterback in college, but I think my best opportunity will be as a kicker and punter," Hagerup said.

The 6-foot-5 and 205-pound Hagerup made 18 of 20 extra points during his junior season with his only two misses being blocked. Hagerup also made five of eight field goals with his long coming from 43 yards.
Of his 29 kickoffs, 14 were touchbacks and he averaged 59 yards per kick. Hagerup also averaged 39 yards per punt. His longest traveled 57 yards.
"I get mail from pretty much every Big Ten school," Hagerup said. "And I get mail from a few others like Harvard, Kentucky, and Drake.
"Besides Wisconsin I haven't really thought too much about colleges. I don't have any preferences right now. I'll look at whoever is interested in me."
Hagerup plans to check out a number of schools over the next few months.
"I'm pretty sure I'm going to junior days at Illinois, Wisconsin, and Northwestern," Hagerup said. "And I think I'll go to camps at Northwestern, Iowa, and Iowa State."
