Jacksonville, Ill., class of 2015 offensive lineman Gabe Megginson has jumped out with six early scholarship offers. One of those is from Wisconsin, and he'll see the Badgers soon.
"I will be at Wisconsin for the Purdue game on the 21st," Megginson said. "I have heard just great things about going up there, from 'Jump Around' to the stadium, and I'm really excited to see it."
The 6-foot-5, 289-pound Megginson earned his offer from Wisconsin after attending the Badger's summer camp, and has kept in close contact with their staff since.
"Their o-line coach, Coach (T.J.) Woods, I call him and we message on Twitter," Megginson said. "They are very strong contenders. It's just a place that every offensive lineman should look at. They have some great linemen who come out there and go to the NFL. That's attractive to me."
The other schools that have offered Megginson are Illinois, Indiana, Akron, Northern Illinois and Illinois State. New interest is coming from several Big Ten programs.
"Minnesota is starting to (show interest)," Megginson said. "I had a little contact with them last year and they are starting to go a lot harder now. Michigan State, they have gotten in contact and are starting to recruit hard.
"I was supposed to go to Northwestern this weekend, but there is a change of plans. Northwestern came to our school to watch Blake Hance and I work out, but I never really heard anything until the 1st. They are recruiting really hard now."
Hance, a three-star offensive tackle prospect who is teammates with Megginson at Jacksonville, is committed to Northwestern in the class of 2014.
"We always talk about recruiting. He helps me a lot, for sure," Megginson said. "He really encourages coming up to a (Northwestern) game, and that's who I'll go up with when I do go to a game."
Megginson does plan to reschedule a visit to Northwestern later in the fall. He also wants to check out a Vanderbilt game and will likely see games at Big Ten schools closer to home as well.
