Wisconsin back up to six offers

Brookfield (Wisc.) Central running back Xavier Whitaker ended the Spring Evaluation Period with a half dozen offers in hand. With the summer camp season now in full swing, Whitaker talked about his offers, his camp plans and even named favorites.
"I have six offers from Eastern Illinois, Illinois State, Buffalo, Indiana, Northern Illinois and Northern Iowa. The schools that came through this spring were Wisconsin, Central Michigan and all the [schools that offered]. Minnesota has also been talking to me a little bit and I am going to send my film out to Illinois in the next couple weeks."

The 6-2, 195-pound Whitaker feels more attention will come his way once he is able to circulate his junior year tape. In the meantime, he will showcase his skills at several college camps this month.
"I'm going to Wisconsin this weekend and I think I'll get offered there," Whitaker said. "Central Michigan wants me to come up there, but I'm not sure if I am going because it is kind of far. I am going to Indiana next weekend to visit them and Northern Illinois the week after that."
Whitaker is paying the closest attention to those schools that have already extended him an offer and he currently has three programs leading the way for his services.
"Right now, my top three schools are Northern Illinois, Indiana and Buffalo," Whitaker said. "Northern Illinois would be my top school right now because I think I have a really good shot at starting there my freshman year."
Whitaker does have the ability to play safety at the college level, but most schools are recruiting him strictly for running back. As a junior, he accumulated close to 900 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns on just 116 carries from the running back position.
"My strengths are my vision, my breakout speed and my elusiveness," Whitaker commented. "If I were to compare myself to a running back, I'd say Beanie Wells or John Clay."
