Winchell still waiting

Some times the phone rings off the hook, other times coaches decide to wait things out and make their calls a little bit later. The latter is true for Southaven, Miss., three-star offensive guard Josh Winchell.
“Nobody’s called yet,” a disappointed Winchell said. “I’ve gotten a lot of letters and things like that lately, but nobody’s called since they could on Monday. I’m surprised.”

So are we.
Winchell, who is 6-foot-5 and 310 pounds, is ranked as the No. 20 offensive guard in the nation and the No. 87 player in the Southeast Region by Rivals.com, still said his list has remained consistently the same.
“It’s still Michigan, Nebraska, Alabama, Auburn and Mississippi State,” he said. “When they do call, I just want to talk to them and see how their season is going so far.”
Winchell, however, did make it over to Mississippi State this past weekend for the Bulldogs’ game against Oregon.
“I talked to my recruiter quite a bit,” he said. “The first quarter of the game was not so good, but the rest turned all to be an exciting game. Coach Campbell is a good guy.”
