Wilson ready for breakout season
Over the last few years, Ventura (Calif.) St. Bonaventure has produced some of the nation's top football prospects. From Lorenzo Booker (Florida State), to Whitney Lewis (USC) to Terrail Lambert (Notre Dame) a year ago, every major college makes a point to stop by the school. This year's top college prospect is defensive back Derek Wilson and although he may not be at the same level as the aforementioned trio, he's still getting a lot of looks.

Wilson, 5-10, 165 pounds is one of the top cover corners in the West and has had a very good spring and summer. We first saw Wilson at the Nike Combine in Los Angeles where he clocked a 4.55 in the 40 and jumped 35 inches in the vertical. He then attended the Nike Camp in San Diego and ran a 4.59 in the 40, 4.19 in the shuttle and jumped 34 inches in the vertical.
Wilson also looked very good in the position and one on one drills and caught the eyes of several colleges who were in attendance including one that offered a scholarship shortly after.
"Arizona offered him after the camp but they're still the only one," St. Bonny head coach Jon Mack said. "He has a lot of other schools looking at him too, most of the Pac 10 and a few others and I imagine more offers will come in after a few games this year. Derek has had a great summer and is really playing well. He's confident and is going to have a great year for us."
Wilson will plenty of chances to make plays this Friday when the Seraphs kick off their season against Burroughs, Ridgecrest who is led by one of the state's best quarterbacks, Karsten Sween and love to throw the ball 25-30 times a game.
