Tupelo (Miss.) standout athlete Jarvis Wilson was among the top performers at the Rivals Camp Series stop through Hattiesburg. At 6-foot-1, 190-pounds, Wilson turned heads with his play at defensive back. He was raw, but he was physical, athletic, and showed some natural instincts.
Since the camp in Hattiesburg, Wilson has been busy hitting the road.
"I visited (Mississippi) State last Saturday and I visited Ole Miss a couple of weeks ago and I have a bunch of junior days coming up but I don't know if I'll get to all of them," Wilson said.
There were a few aspects of his trip to Ole Miss which stood out in his mind.
It was good. They always show love there," Wilson said. "I like how they base everything off of competition there and their facilities are really nice."
Mississippi State has also made him feel welcome over the years and continues to do so.
"They've been recruiting me since the ninth grade, so it's like home when I go down there," Wilson said.
So what is next for Wilson?
"I may be going to Florida State this coming up weekend. I don't know yet," Wilson said. "And I may go back to Mississippi State this week sometime."
Stanford has requested his transcript and he is keeping an open mind to the recruiting process at this point. However, one program may have an edge right now.
"Probably State but they're not that far," Wilson said. "Everybody is pretty much even."
He has yet to pick up his first scholarship offer, but he is attracting attention at both receiver and defensive back. He has spent the majority of his playing days at wide receiver, but he is keeping an open mind to any and every opportunity.
"I just like playing football period," Wilson said. "So if I play receiver I'm happy and if I play on defense I'm happy with that too."
