Williamson talks top four, decision plans

THE LATEST: Kendall Williamson recently named North Carolina State, Stanford, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest as his top four schools. The 6-foot-1, 188 pound cornerback out of Snellville (Ga.) Brookwood has visited three of his four favorites, he has an official visit scheduled to the fourth and he would like to commit sooner than later.

IN HIS OWN WORDS: "I knew as soon as my top four schools offered me that I had a lot of interest in them," said Williamson. "Then the more I talked to them and learned about them, they stood out even more to me.

"I have visited North Carolina State and Vanderbilt twice, I have visited Wake Forest once and I will be visiting Stanford in September for an official visit. My list could still change, but I know I like these four schools a lot right now."

NORTH CAROLINA STATE: "I really love the school. The first time I visited them, it was just a great visit. The atmosphere there really attracts me to them. I like the coaches too."

STANFORD: "It is hard not to like Stanford with what they have to offer. It is a strong PAC 12 school with academics and football. They have put out some top defensive backs too, so there is a lot to like."

VANDERBILT: "The academics at Vanderbilt have had my attention from the beginning. They are an SEC school and they have great all around balance there. I like the town and atmosphere too."

WAKE FOREST: "I like how Wake Forest is a smaller school with smaller classes, so that really is intriguing to me. I am big on academics, so having a chance to know the professors better is something that stands out. The coaches have shown me a lot of interest from the beginning too."

COMMITMENT TIMELINE: "I wanted to commit before the season, but it did not work out that way. I only want to commit once, so I am waiting until I know for sure of my decision. I am not going to rush it, but as soon as I know, I will commit. My goal is to make my decision during the season."

BASE DECISION ON: "It will be about how I feel. I am looking for the best place for me. I want balance of academics and football, so a lot will go into my decision, but it will be about the place I feel fits me best."

RIVALS REACTION: Williamson is really working to commit as soon as possible. There is no true favorite right now. Each school has multiple things he likes and he is feeling no pressure from the coaches to commit now or his spot is gone. He is looking to visit Stanford the weekend of September 16th, and if that visit takes place, that may put him in position to make a decision weeks after that. Academics are important as are relationships and the opportunity to play.
