Williams visits LSU, leaves with offer

What happened Saturday for Jeremiah Williams is just how many recruits envision it.

The 6-foot-4, 215 pound sophomore linebacker out of Birmingham (Ala.) Ramsay arrived at LSU early Saturday morning, an assistant coach greeted him and escorted him to the office of head coach Ed Orgeron. There was a quick conversation, coach O extended an offer to Williams and the visit was off to a great start.

Williams quickly knew he was a Tiger target.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

"We got there early, so the running backs coach (Tommie Robinson) took me to coach Orgeron's office and I got the offer right away," said Williams. "Coach O and I had a short conversation, then he offered me. I was surprised. It was great to get the offer, but to get it from the head coach made it even more special.

"The coaches told me that they watched my film together and that they like how explosive I am and how aggressive I play.

"I felt like part of the family during the visit. I loved the stadium, the locker room was great and I really liked the updated academic center. I had a great time and I love how they push their players to graduate.

"If I was ready to make a top five, LSU would definitely be in it. They made me feel important. I could tell coach O cares about his players, how he puts them first and he makes it all about that family environment there.

"Coach [Dave] Aranda was great too. He is a great coach, he talked to me a lot and he stood out to me also on the visit."

RIVALS REACTION

LSU is the sixth school to offer Williams. He is a 2021 prospect to know and he will add many more in the coming months. Georgia Tech offered not too long ago and he is working to get to Atlanta for a visit early in the spring. Duke, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Penn State are some schools that are showing interest in Williams. It is very early in his recruitment and he is going to take his time. LSU made a very strong first impression on him over the weekend and the Tigers could be a factor in the end.
