Williams takes step back

Lindale, Texas, coach Greg Owens has confirmed that Oklahoma has lost a commitment for its class of 2002.
"He's decided that he needs more time and wants to take a visit to Texas and to Texas Tech," said Owens about his standout defensive end Michael Williams, who committed to the Sooners this past weekend after an official visit.

Owens said Williams called Oklahoma earlier today to inform them that he wanted to take other visits and was officially no longer an Oklahoma commitment.
"There is no question that he really likes Oklahoma at this point and they are his team to beat," Owens said. "But I think he got caught up in the moment on the visit and maybe rushed into things a little bit.
"Michael is a good kid, and he wants to do the right thing. We want him to be 100 percent sure of his decision when he commits, and he isn't at this point. So it's only fair to be honest with Oklahoma and the other schools. This was his decision, and he wasn’t 100 percent sure what he wanted to do, so this is the right thing for him to do."
