Williams returns from ECU

As solid as East Carolina's football program was during the 1990's, it's not often that one of the top prospects in the state with offers from other schools considers the Pirates. That said, offensive guard Julian Williams is a top 20 prospect in the state and was in Greenville on an official visit this weekend.
"I had a good time at ECU, a really good time," said Williams. "I toured the campus, met with the coaches and then went out with some of the players. I like the area and I get the feeling the college experience there is nice. They've had a coaching change, and I was impressed with everyone I met there. They think they can win there."

The 6-foot-4, 291-pound guard from New Bern, N.C. has offers from East Carolina, NC State, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and Maryland. What schools other than East Carolina top his list?
"I'd say NC State is my favorite right now. I just have a feeling about the school. I'm going to visit the school on Jan. 14. They have a good program and they've been after me hard for a while. After them I'd put Virginia Tech and East Carolina in my top three.
"Notre Dame is starting to get involved recruiting me lately. It's been a week or two, but my interest in them is growing. They're looking into my academics, because they have higher standards than most other schools for athletes. But I'm qualified to play next year already."
In addition to his visit to NC State scheduled for Jan. 14, Williams plans on taking an official visit to Notre Dame on Jan. 21.
