Williams picks TCU

Sitting in his living room in the comfort of his home surrounded by family and friends Houston (TX) C.E. King running back Trayveon Williams was moments away from announcing where he'd play college football.

Months of phone calls, texts, tweets and direct messages were about to be put behind him. The two favorites were Houston and TCU, both schools weighing heavily in Williams' decision.
With a coffee table full of gear from TCU, Texas, Texas A&M and Houston, he leaned forward, grabbing a TCU shirt, pulling it over his head and announcing his commitment to the Horned Frogs.
"I feel relief," the three-star running back told Rivals.com moments after his commitment. "I'm excited and still a little nervous even though I'm done with it, I just feel blessed and thankful."
Williams was excited to put the recruiting process behind him and take the next step in getting ready for the next level and focusing on his senior season.
"It's been crazy," Williams said. "It's kind of overwhelming for a 17-year-old kid. With all the mail and the phone calls, the tweets and messages it's been a lot of fun. I really feel blessed."
The decision was one of the toughest he would make as Williams was drawn to both TCU and Houston, and took his decision into the late hours the night the day before he announced his decision.
"It really came down to last night," he said of his decision. "Houston and TCU were the top two schools in my heart and it came down to what's best for me and at the last minute I decided to go TCU because that's where my heart led me."
Williams fell in love with what head coach Gary Patterson has built at TCU. He feels like he can leave his own mark on the program and bring more prominence to a school that has already made its mark in the Big-12.
"They're real family oriented," Williams said of TCU. "I love the way coach 'P' [Patterson] runs the program. You can't help wanting to be a part of that offense. I feel like they really use their running backs well, getting them in open space. I want to help bring more glory to TCU."
It wasn't an easy decision for the 5-foot-9, 188-pound running back, who received a final pitch from Houston head coach Tom Herman moments before announcing his commitment.
"I talked to coach [Tom] Herman of Houston minutes before my decision," Williams said. "He was just talking to me trying to get me to sway towards Houston. He was just emphasizing being a part of the rebuilding process because there's going to be something special in Houston. It was kind of hard to hear because it was like I was telling him no."
One of the biggest catalysts to Williams' decision was one of the latest commitments the Horned Frogs picked up on Wednesday, when they landed the pledge of Williams' good friend Clifton Lewis of Missouri City (TX) Hightower.
"It definitely had an impact on my decision," Williams said of Lewis' commitment to TCU on Wednesday. "I talked to him the night before last and we were talking about what we could do at TCU together. I was thinking about that a lot last night and decided that I really wanted to join him at TCU."
With his decision now behind him, Williams will turn his focus to helping the Horned Frogs land more talent. As he looks forward to the next chapter in his life he can't help but feel relieved to put the rest of the recruiting process behind him.
"I feel like the weight is off of my shoulders," he said. "The next step is just taking my official to TCU and work on recruiting some more great talent to TCU."
