Williams narrows the field

Erie (Pa.) Vincent standout Maurice Williams has narrowed his list of a dozen scholarship offers down to five schools.
"I think I have 11 or 12 offers," Williams said. "I'd say about 10 are in writing.

"I'm still looking at Pitt, West Virginia, Penn State, Michigan State a little, and Maryland. They all offered."
Williams' sister goes to Penn State and Pitt is not too far from home, so it's not surprising Williams has been to both schools.
"I've visited Pitt," Williams said. "I've been to Penn State and I'm supposed to visit there again pretty soon."
Williams has checked out two of the other schools on his as well.
"I went to camps at West Virginia and Michigan State," he said. "I'd say I liked the West Virginia camp a little better than Michigan State. We did a little more there."
A clear favorite has not emerged.
"I don't know which school I like best," Williams said. "I'll decide (on a college) before or after the season."
The 6-foot-0 and 184-pound Williams plays quarterback and in the secondary. He played wide receiver his sophomore year.
"I'm getting recruited mostly as a wide receiver," Williams said.
