Williams heading to Villanova

Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) University School defensive tackle Patrick Williams took an official visit to Villanova this weekend. Upon returning home from the trip and discussing things with his mother and coach, the two-star defensive lineman went ahead and made the call.
"Like I had said before, the Division of football didn't matter to me, Division I or Division II, it was just about what best fit me," Williams said. "I decided to go ahead and commit to Villanova because I feel like I fit into that program very well."

Williams, who wants to major in nursing, said that Villanova was very appealing from an academic standpoint and from their business-like approach to his official visit.
"When you go on visits and you spend time with the football players, their main objective is to show you a good time but what I liked about 'Nova is that they weren't like that, they were all about business," Williams said. "Their players, they keep it straight-up with you and will show you a good time, show you around the school, and tell you what you need to get ready for but they also are serious about their football.
"It wasn't all fun," Williams added. "I wanted to get to know more about where I am going to spend the next four or five years, and they did that. We laughed some, but they were clear about how they take these things very seriously. I see why they win games and they win championships, because they are about business. That is what I saw on this trip."
The 6-foot-0, 275-pound defensive tackle struck up a strong relationship with his future position coach, Billy Crocker.
"I really got a chance to speak with him and get to know him," Williams said. "He plans to teach me the techniques that I need to become a better player on the defensive line. He also plans to make me successful on and off the field."
Crocker wasn't the only person on the current Villanova roster who plan to show Williams a thing or two about contributing on the defensive front.
"Antoine Lewis and Rakim Cox were showing me the ropes and letting me know some things while I was on the visit," Williams said. "They want me to come in ready to play because they see the potential I have and believe I can help the team out as a freshman."
Williams, who is fully qualified, said he is done with the recruiting process and will now turn his attention to his wrestling season at University School.
