Williams close to trimming his list

DeSoto, Texas athlete Patrick Williams is nearing the time for him to start to make some decisions. But, he doesn’t know what decisions he’ll be making.
“Everything is going real good,” the 6-foot-2, 184-pound Williams said. “But, it is getting near the time I have to start cutting some things down.”

Williams’ list of top schools includes Texas A&M, Kansas, Utah, Arkansas, LSU, Colorado and Kansas State.
“Those are the main schools I am looking at,” he said. “I really don’t have a favorite one among them. They are all really about the same right now.”
Williams has been playing quarterback most of the season so far, but he isn’t locked into that position in college.
“It doesn’t really matter to me,” he said. “But, I'm leaning toward receiver a little more. I think I would perform better at that spot in college. Nothing is set. But, that’s just what I’m thinking right now.”
No official visits have been lined up with any of the schools on the three-star athlete’s list.
“I will start to line them up before long,” he said. “I have had the chance to take a couple unofficial visits. I went to Texas A&M for their game against Utah. I also went to Oklahoma State’s game against SMU too. At A&M, I just wanted to see what a game was like there. And at Oklahoma State, I know Victor DeGrate and he's there playing. So, it was good to see him and catch up some.”
DeSoto is off to a 3-1 start on the season. The lone loss coming to Arlington Lamar 14-11.
“I think I'm doing good,” he said. “I have five rushing touchdowns and one passing. I don’t know my passing yards or my running yards. Most of my time is spent at quarterback for our team. But, I have gotten some time at wide receiver.”
