Will Williams Stay Close To Home

Sacramento (Calif.) Grant linebacker Worrell Williams had a great week of practice for the CaliFlorida Bowl and was arguably the top backer for the Cali squad all week once Terrance Kelly was moved to safety. One of the things we heard all week was Williams could be part of a rather large contingent of NorCal players staying close to home.
Williams, 6-0, 240 pounds is big, physical and can run. He plays the run very well and is also lethal coming off the edge and blitzing the quarterback. The linebacker will take his first official visit of the year next weekend when he heads to Washington and will trip to Cal (Jan. 16).

“Those are my top two and Cal is probably my leader right now,” Williams said. “It’s close to home and a lot of us have been talking a lot this week about staying close to home and building Cal up to be a power on the West Coast.”
Indeed, along with Marshawn Lynch and Virdell Larkins who both committed during the game, Williams and the De La Salle duo of Terrance Kelly and Willie Glasper all spoke highly of the Bears throughout the week. In fact, it’s our belief that if Signing Day was tomorrow, all five players would be signing with the Bears.
“I still like Washington and would still like to visit Miami but we’ll see what happens,” Williams said. “I’m not going to drag anything out if I know where I want to go. It would be fun to play with these guys, we all became pretty close during the week and it’s definitely something we’ve all discussed.”
