There have been some rumors recently that running back Jamaal Edwards may be looking around, despite his verbal commitment to Florida State.
The 6-foot-0, 202-pound running back from Greensboro (N.C.) Dudley committed to Florida State back in July after a visit. But there have been reports that Edwards may be looking to set up an official visit to North Carolina. Is that the case?
"I don't know where that rumor started," said the mother of Jamaal Edwards. "He hasn't decided to take any other visits to my knowledge. If he has, that would be news to me."
Edwards had narrowed things down to Florida State and North Carolina before committing to the 'Noles, and the Heels aren't giving up on him yet. Coaches from the North Carolina football program were at Edwards' house recently for an in-home visit. Florida State plans on making sure they don't gain any ground.
"The coaches from Florida State stay in contact with Jamaal regularly," his mother said. "I know they talked just a couple of days ago, and I think he's still planning on going down to Florida State sometime in January on a visit."
Edwards, the No. 6 running back in the nation, rushed for 2,000 yards and 22 touchdowns as the offensive leader of one of North Carolina's top teams.
