Wilkinson exploring Big Ten ties

Trotwood-Madison (Ohio) High sent players to three Big Ten schools in the class of 2013. The Rams have several more BCS caliber prospects in their 2014 class, including defensive end Verondtae Wilkinson.
The 6-foot-2, 236-pound Wilkinson holds five offers and is hearing from several more schools, including Ohio State where his teammate Cameron Burrows signed last month.

"I'm trying to [visit] Ohio State," Wilkinson said. "They have been trying to [get in touch] with me, but I had a funeral this past week and haven't talked with anybody since last week.
Two more of Wilkinson's teammates from last fall - Mike McCray and Reon Dawson - signed with Michigan in February, and the Wolverines are a school that is starting to come into the picture.
"Michigan, they are asking about me," Wilkinson said. "Mike McCray's dad said they were talking about me, but that's all I've heard from them."
Trotwood-Madison also sent defensive end Jarrod Clements to Illinois in the 2013 class, and the Illini have already offered Wilkinson.
"I haven't been there, that's why I want to get out there," Wilkinson said. "[Clements] tries to recruit me and get me out there so we can all be together. He believes they can get places."
Wilkinson has also been offered by Indiana, Buffalo, Bowling Green and Toledo. He played defensive end on a team that went to the state title game in 2012, but could project also project to linebacker in college.
