Wilkins excited for Pac-12 trip

Manny Wilkins is excited for the Cal-UCLA game Saturday not only because it should be a good Pac-12 matchup but the San Marin (Calif.) Novato quarterback will be in Berkeley to watch it in person.
The 2014 standout who shined this spring at the Oakland Elite 11 and NIKE Camp is a close friend of Cal defensive lineman Kendrick Payne and he's hopeful commit Jared Goff is there as well.

Wilkins and Goff know each other well and could spend some valuable time during the game.
The Golden Bears have been showing some interest in Wilkins, a 6-foot-3, 185-pound prospect who has talked with pass game coordinator and quarterbacks coach Marcus Arroyo and hopes to hear even more moving forward.
"I'm going Saturday for the UCLA game," Wilkins said. "That's the first time I'm going there for an unofficial. It's going to be a great thing to go down there and see how everything is down there.
"I have a really good friend of mine who plays there, Kendrick Payne, and Jared Goff is committed and he's one of my good friends. I wouldn't doubt if I met up with him there. I talked to coach Arroyo a couple times and I get e-mails from there. It's not too much but it's there."
Oregon continues to show the most interest and Wilkins is planning to take an unofficial trip there in mid-November for the Stanford matchup.
It's no surprise the Ducks continue to impress the 2014 quarterback so he's hoping to keep up that communication.
"Oregon is sending the most," Wilkins said. "They're looking pretty dominant."
Wilkins is also planning a trip to San Jose State next weekend for its matchup against Utah State, which has been talking with him. Colorado, Washington State and others are showing interest as well.
