Wilkins could be close

The trend of early commitments by quarterbacks has started and that's one reason why Manny Wilkins is not too nervous about his recruitment.
The Novato (Calif.) San Marin standout already has a few nice offers and a lot of programs are showing serious interest - Fresno State, Utah State, Wisconsin, UCLA and Arizona State came out last week to watch him throw - so things are going well.

But Wilkins believes once other big-time quarterbacks commit, namely four-star Kyle Allen, then interest from Pac-12 schools could pick up even more.
"In my eyes, a lot of teams are waiting to see what Kyle does," Wilkins said. "That's where that stands. There have been a couple commitments going out lately with (Morgan) Mahalak committing.
"That's just another guy going off the board for some schools. Once one guy commits another guy will commit and the trend will start happening. Once a guy like Kyle commits I'm sure they'll be pressing hard."
One program that has shown a lot of recent interest in Wilkins is Arizona State and an offer from the Sun Devils would be big.
The 6-foot-3, 185-pound prospect is supposed to speak again with the ASU coaches later this week.
"It would be big to me," Wilkins said of an Arizona State offer.
"They have the No. 1 school in broadcasting and communications and that's exactly what I want to major in. That's my No. 1 thing there and overall that offense is set up so nice for a quarterback to come in and take over that offense with the depth chart and everything.
"It's really nice for a 2014 guy so whoever ends up there will have a really great time going to that school."
So far, Wilkins has landed offers from Arizona, Colorado State, Utah State and Wyoming.
