Wilkins back from two visits

Manny Wilkins is still looking for his first offer and during some free time in the last week the 2014 quarterback from San Marin (Calif.) Novato had a chance to take two unofficial visits.
The 6-foot-3, 185-pound prospect who shined at the Oakland NIKE Camp visited Utah and Utah State. Neither program offered but Wilkins said it was invaluable as the recruiting process picks up.

"They were great," Wilkins said. "Both places were renovating so by the time I graduate as a senior everything is going to be brand-new almost. A lot of schools are doing that especially on the West Coast because everyone is competing for their facilities.
"Both coaching staffs were really great. Matt Wells from Utah State was really a motivational speaker and the words he was saying were really powerful.
"I didn't get a chance to meet either of the head coaches because both were out of town. It was a great experience overall though. I was blown away when we left and I was very happy I made those visits."
Both Utah and Utah State hinted that they would be by his school this fall as Wilkins looks to have a big junior season. After transferring from Missouri City (Texas) Elkins, the 2014 prospect is looking to emerge as one of California's best quarterbacks.
"I believe both are going to try to come out to see a game, send a recruiter out to see a game this season," Wilkins said. "I think they'll be coming out to see me work out or to come watch a game.
"I'm very excited. It's a dream I've wanted all my life throughout Pop Warner. For any school to be interested in you, to attend that school for free, and for them to just notice you is an honor."
Wilkins earned quarterback MVP honors at the Oregon and Nevada camps this summer.
