Wilkins back from Pac-12 trips

Many schools in the Kyle Allen sweepstakes seem to be waiting on offering any other quarterbacks until the four-star standout decides on a commitment.
That has held up some other quarterbacks on even getting offers but that changed in recent days when Arizona State extended an offer to Manny Wilkins, the Novato (Calif.) San Marin standout who visited ASU and Arizona this past weekend.

"They were waiting to see what their boy Kyle Allen did," Wilkins said of ASU.
"I guess he gave (the ASU coaches) a ring last night and they talked for a little bit to see where they stood. I guess if Kyle wasn't close to 90, 80 percent about his decision for Arizona State they were going to move on and I guess that's what happened so they did what they did. Coach (Mike) Norvell just gave me a ring and I called him back and he told me they'd like to offer me."
That is outstanding news for Wilkins especially since he just visited the Arizona State campus and loved it. A decision might not be forthcoming but the Sun Devils are definitely in the running - even more now that Wilkins has been offered.
"I want to major in broadcasting and it's one of the nicest places I've seen broadcasting-wise," Wilkins said. "It was amazing. It was one of the best in the country so it was pretty neat."
The Arizona State offer is big but that does not discount Arizona because that trip went well, too. Wilkins said he's impressed with everything the Wildcats offer and playing for a quarterback-friendly coach like Rich Rodriguez has to be considered.
"I loved Arizona," Wilkins said.
"Arizona was a great school. I loved everything about it. Coach Rodriguez is one of the best coaches in the country and he knows what he's doing. Every quarterback he's had for years has been player of the year and that speaks volumes. He's there to win games and do what he does."
So far, Wilkins has landed offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado State, Utah State and Wyoming. While both visits went well this past weekend, the three-star quarterback is not ready to make his commitment yet.
"I'm just looking at everything in-depth," Wilkins said. "You can't rush a decision. The biggest thing for me is looking at everything in-depth and to keep checking everything out. I just want to make a cautious decision."
