Wilkerson lands major Big Ten offer

Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha defensive end Brent Wilkerson landed his 14th offer earlier today. The 6-foot-4, 245-pounder pulled the scholarship from a major team in the Big Ten.
"I got an offer from Michigan right after school," Wilkerson said. "It's definitely a big offer, I'm really happy that they are willing to offer me a scholarship. I'm very interested. I called their defensive coordinator and defensive line coach. I spoke to the recruiter in my area too, I'm very interested in them and they are after me pretty hard. I plan to get down there to see the place and get to know the coaches."
What intrigues Wilkerson about Michigan?

"I know one of the kids from Good Counsel is going there, that's a good sign," he said. "I know it's also a very prestigious school with a lot of tradition and they have the biggest stadium in college, that's definitely a plus. They also have good academics there, that's a very cool thing."
Michigan is the latest offer following scholarships a week ago from Maryland, West Virginia and Penn State.
Is there anyone Wilkerson is still hoping will offer?
"I'm hoping for one from LSU, I think they are pretty close," he said. "I'm interested in Miami too.
"I like LSU cause my father has a friend that went there and I've heard nothing but good things about them. They are also producing defensive linemen and Les Miles is supposed to be a great guy and a great guy to play for. He cares about his players.
"For Miami, it's the tradition at Miami and everything they have there. They have a tradition of tight ends and defensive ends. They produce both for the NFL and I like how they are trying to rebuild to another level to reach their potential after the last few years."
Due to SAT prep, Wilkerson won't be able to take visits until after March 12th but added he plans to head out over spring break and other times to Virginia, Penn State, Rutgers, Michigan, Michigan State and West Virginia over the next few months.
