Wildcats third offer for Texas safety

Sulphur Springs, Texas safety Keenan Clayton entered his junior season with two scholarship offers. He has now picked up his third offer.
“SMU and Baylor offered me scholarships last spring,” the 6-foot-2, 205-pound Clayton said. “I then got an offer from Arizona this past Wednesday. I like those three schools, but my main interest right now is in Oklahoma and Texas.”

The two Big 12 south division powers have been helping fill the mailbox of the talented defensive back.
“I get mail from them regularly,” he said. “Questionnaires, stuff about the school and stuff about their camps and the junior days. I know I can get a good education at most of the schools. But, I like the winning traditions at these two and I think I might have the opportunity to play early there as well.”
As a junior, Clayton earned first-team all-district honors as a safety and honorable mention honors for his play as a running back. He also earned third-team all-state recognition as a punt returner.
“Our coach has the official numbers,” he said. “But I was around 40 tackles and I think I had four interceptions. I do know I had three punts returned for touchdowns.”
Clayton did take in the junior day at SMU last Saturday.
“I had a good time,” he said. “I talked to the coaches and saw their facilities. I was supposed to go to LSU on Sunday, but I couldn’t make it. I am going to try and get there later on this spring.”
