Wildcats sign one late

All’s well that ends well - is the story here. Offensive tackle Bill Wacholz (6-6, 295, 5.1) from San Diego (Calif.) Rancho Bernardo went into the season of 2003 as a viable D-I prospect. He knew what was at stake going into his senior season and worked extremely hard getting himself into shape. Wacholz wanted to be ready to impress and earn a scholie.
All the hard work came to a heartbreaking end early in the season when Wacholz went down with a broken leg missing most of the season.

Because of his injury Wacholz saw his recruitment come to a screeching halt. As a matter of fact it looked like Wacholz was heading to jump start his football career at a junior college when good fortune finally arrived.
Wacholz attended a JUCO combine where he turned in a dazzling performance. By the end of the combine Wacholz saw stock change cold to sizzling hot.
The recruitment for Wacholz overnight became very intense. Michigan State, Washington, Nevada, Louisiana Lafayette, UTEP and Arizona did battle.
It came down to Arizona, Washington, and Michigan State with Mike Stoops and his Arizona Wildcats ending up the victor.
Wacholz was leaning toward Arizona a year ago and may have even received an offer from them if the Mackovic regime would have survived. Mackovic was bounced and once again Wacholz was in oblivion.
The silver lining of this story is to keep working hard and never quit. Wacholz didn’t and his effort turned into several offers. Instead of lining up to JUCO ball this fall he will play for the Wildcats.
Yes indeed, all’s well that ends well.
