Wichita (Kan.) Heights safety Gary Chandler has kept busy the last two months with studying and his evening job. But, the No. 10 rated player in the Sunflower State has found time to get away on two official visits to junior colleges.
"I visited Butler County and Coffeyville earlier this month," the 5-foot-11, 190-pound Chandler said. "Both of those trips went well. They are both here in the state and this is where some of the best junior college football is played. I'm interested in both places, but I am not ready to pick one of them, yet."

The reason for the hesitation is Chandler's hopes of still qualifying for a Division I-A scholarship.
"I am going to take an official visit to Kansas State this weekend," he said. "They are the only school that is still recruiting me. The others have all backed away."
The reason for the other schools' departure is whether or not Chandler can get the necessary test score to go with his grades.
"I got a 16 on the test the time I took it in December," he said. "Now, I just need to keep working on studying for it and practicing what I can. If I can get it up to 18, I'll be qualified. I get to take it again on Feb. 12. That is the next time it is offered."
Chandler does not know what his plans are for signing day.
"I don't know right now what I will do. I don't have any offers from schools other than the junior colleges right now. If I get an offer that might change that, but right now I need to work on getting qualified so I can make it."
