Wild week in the mid-South region

So much for the dead period.

The Mid-South region went wild throughout the week, and there was no wilder day than Wednesday December 16.
The week started with a strong Sunday, just before the contact period ended.
Argyle (Texas) Liberty Christian quarterback Nick Starkel decommitted from Oklahoma State, Allen (Texas) quarterback Seth Green announced his flip from Oregon to Minnesota, DeSoto (Texas) quarterback Tristen Wallace flipped from Ohio State to Oregon, and New Orleans (La.) St. Augustine defensive tackle D'Andre Christmas-Giles decommitted from Tennessee after grabbing an LSU offer on Friday and spending the weekend at Texas on an official visit.
Monday and Tuesday came and went as usual, but Wednesday hit warp speed in a hurry.
Five-star Allen (Texas) offensive tackle Gregory Little announced his commitment to Ole Miss. He initially planned to announce his commitment in early November but held off until after the season. The delay did not impact his decision any with Ole Miss being the favorite then over Alabama.

Little's former Allen (Texas) teammate and 2015 Rivals100 quarterback Kyler Murray became one of, if not the most, highly recruited prospect in the region for a second time after word began to trickle out about his plans to transfer from Texas A&M. He was granted his release to transfer by the Aggies on Thursday and Texas, Oklahoma, Oregon and Texas Tech quickly emerged as speculated early options.
Shortly after word of Murray's transfer surfaced, longtime Texas A&M commitment and Rivals250 receiver Quartney Davis announced his decommitment from the Aggies. The Houston (Texas) Langham Creek receiver plans to entertain his options and already has visits scheduled to Oklahoma State (Jan. 15) and Oklahoma (Jan. 22). He also mentioned plans to take an official visit to UCLA in January.
Staying in the Houston area, Manvel (Texas) athlete D'Eriq King re-opened his recruiting process. King, who plays quarterback at Manvel, has drawn interest at a few spots on the field including quarterback, and before decommitting he was a longtime TCU commitment. Keep an eye on Houston. Coach Herman and his staff have continued to target King despite his TCU commitment and have a ton of momentum going on the recruiting trail.
Things were also getting wild in Louisiana with three-star athlete Ca'Ron Baham of Marrero (La.) John Ehret announcing his decommitment from Missouri. He already has visits scheduled to Colorado (Jan. 15) and Memphis (Jan. 29). He continues to keep an eye on Missouri, and he is also hearing from Tulane, Georgia Tech and Tennessee.
Baham's John Ehret teammate Michael Divinity also reopened his recruiting process on Wednesday. The Rivals250 linebacker decommitted from LSU, but the Tigers remain in the mix. He will choose between LSU and Texas A&M, and he plans to make his decision on January 5.

Them the underclassmen got involved. New Orleans (La.) Landry-Walker 2017 Rivals250 quarterback announced his commitment to Mississippi State on Wednesday afternoon. He chose the Bulldogs over LSU, Florida, Tennessee and Miami.
Everything calmed back down after Wednesday, but Friday also saw some pretty big developments.
Three-star linebacker Clifton Lewis of Missouri City (Texas) Fort Bend Hightower opened up his recruitment his on Friday, becoming the second three-star decommitment for TCU during the week.
Then the Oklahoma Sooners closed out the craziness with a Rival250 commitment from Chris Daniels on Friday night. He chose Oklahoma over Alabama and Michigan. He has already taken official visits to Michigan and Oklahoma and he plans to take official visits to Alabama, Texas, and either Ohio State or Arkansas in January.

Technically it may have been a dead period, at least by the NCAA's recruiting calendar, but it is easy to see there was plenty of activity.
