Wilcoxson commits to Florida, his childhood favorite school

This wasn't really planned.

Kamar Wilcoxson grew up a fan of the Florida Gators, and they were first to offer him, but he wasn't expecting to leave The Swamp a Florida commitment.

When meeting with head coach Dan Mullen before the game, the the 2021 defensive back out of Stone Mountain (Ga.) Stephenson had a different feeling. And he acted on it.

"It was on my mind before the visit, but when I talked to coach Mullen, that solidified it," said Wilcoxson.

"I’ve been thinking [about Florida] and watching them. I like the defensive scheme they run. My friend Trey Dean starts as a true freshman, and I see they play young defensive backs, and develop players greatly.

"I talked to coach Mullen and he told me he wanted me in the program and he loved my style of play, so I committed to him."

Wilcoxson said coach Mullen was excited with the news and those feels are reciprocated.

"I can tell coach Mullen has his players best interest at heart just by the conversation we had before I committed.

"Today was the right time to commit because it’s been on my mind for a minute. When I sat down and talked to coach Mullen face to face to see where his mind was, I knew Florida was the school for me."

Wilcoxson is looked at as one of the top prospects in the 2021 class. He has offers from Alabama, Auburn, Louisville, Penn State and Texas A&M among others.
