Wideout Has Two Visits Set; Final Four

Considered to be one of the top wide receivers in the east, Derrick Harper of Montclair, N.J. has set his first two official visits.
The 6-foot-3, 185-pound wideout will be visiting South Carolina on Nov. 8 and Maryland on Jan. 3.

With more than 25 offers, Derrick's favorites have changed a bit. Along with South Carolina and Maryland, he is now listing Pittsburgh and Boston College among his leaders
“I plan on setting visits up with Pitt and BC. I hope that those visits will be all I need to make a decision. Maryland and South Carolina have always been two of my favorites and I look forward to my visits there. I had a few others on my list like Notre Dame, Florida and Virginia, but I’m going in a different direction now.”
So far this season Derrick has only been able to play 100-percent in one game. A sprained ankle has kept him to limited action, but in his first game he had seven catches for 125 yards and two touchdowns. He also had a 65-yard punt return for a touchdown called back.
A three-star recruit, Harper is ranked among New Jersey's top players and has garnered interest from schools across the country. His 4.45-second 40-yard dash time makes him the target of top programs looking for a big-ttime player.
“Pitt and BC have been recruiting me hard for a while and they are both off to good starts. BC played Miami tough and without a few Miami breaks that game was a lot closer than the score. Pitt is a good program and has been throwing the ball more every year.”
Look for big things to come from Derrick once he is fully recovered from his injury.
"My ankle is about 90-percent right now, so I’m hoping to make an impact in the rest of our games. It’s been tough not being able to help the team as much as I would like.”
