Whitmire takes a visit

Rivals250 offensive tackle Jay Whitmire made a trip this past weekend. The 6-foot-6, 287-pounder hit up a spring game. Where did he go?
"I went to Penn State and it went pretty good," he said. "I had fun at the Blue and White game.

"I went up for the day and it was a standard visit. I got to chill in the lounge before the game and talk to Cocah Johnson. We talked a bit along with my teammate, Joe Massaquoi. I guess they offered. My dad said he just got a fax from them. They said they were going to have a meeting afterwards."
Whitmire of course went up for the game though and enjoyed the experience.
"My dad, Joe and I walked around the stadium and actually at halftime got to go to the highest point which was kind of a cool experience," he said. "There were a lot of fans there too. I was impressed.
"As for the game, they actually like me on the defensive line. Coach Johnson kind of likes bigger defensive linemen that are tall. They are probably the only school recruiting me there. I liked what I saw from the defensive line. I think it was a good visit I guess."
Whitmire plans to hit up more colleges this summer for camps and mentioned two schools specifically he hopes to see in the near future.
"I kind of want to check out Boston College and Notre Dame to see what they are like," he said. "I don't know if I'm ready to name favorites. I want to visit a couple more places."
