Whitley enjoys UNC trip

Like many of the state's top prospects, Matthews (N.C.) Butler defensive back Eddie Whitley was on campus at the University of North Carolina on Sunday for the Tar Heels Junior Day event.
Whitley got the chance to catch the Tar Heels' basketball game against rival Duke.

"The fans were straight," he said.
Whitley also got the chance to spend time with North Carolina's new coaching staff.
"I like the new coaching staff," he said. "Coach John Blake is real cool and I talked to coach Butch Davis. He said that they wanted to get all three of our defensive backs to come to their schools. They saw my film and said that they liked it."
Blake is Whitley's recruiter of record.
The visit moved the Tar Heels up on Whitley's list.
"It helped UNC a lot," he said. "They were already up there. I don't really have any favorites right now, but every time I think about colleges, they pop in my mind."
His high school teammate and defensive backfield mate, Spencer Adams, also was in Chapel Hill on Sunday.
"We were together the whole time," he said. "We were talking about playing together in college."
Whitley plans to attend a spring practice at Virginia and is going to camp at Virginia Tech this summer. He also will visit Louisville in April.
