White running out of options

Culver City (Calif.) wide out Damien White had a monster season and is easily among the best players at his position in the West region this year. Unfortunately, his academic situation has caused a lot of schools to back off him.
White, 6-0, 170 pounds earned all-city honors this past year after hauling 64 catches for 1,166 yards and 13 touchdowns. He had a pair of January visits set up but both schools postponed the trips.

“Toledo was supposed to be earlier in the month but they told me they filled up at my position,” White said. “Then I was supposed to visit UNLV this past weekend but they have concerns that I won’t qualify.
“The frustrating thing for me is I know I will qualify. When my next report card comes out, I’ll have a 2.6 GPA and I scored a 780 on the SAT. So I’m really close and will keep taking the test until I score what I need to.
“UNLV told me they still have interest and talked about me possibly visiting (Feb. 2) but I’m not sure if I want to do that. It’s kind of insulting that they pulled the trip offer to me this past weekend so I’m not sure what I’m going to do.
“Right now, I’m not really hearing from anyone. I think a lot of schools feel the same way as UNLV. They don’t think I’ll make it but I’m using that to motivate me and when I do qualify, I going to remember the schools that passed up on me.”
