White checks out Texas AM

Springhill (La.) North Webster 2016 Rivals100 athlete Devin White spent Sunday in College Station, Texas at Texas A&M's Junior Day.
He made the trip with friend and five-star quarterback Shea Patterson, and he enjoyed his time in Texas.

"It was all good," White said. "The facilities are off the charts. As far as the A&M coaching staff, the love they showed. They showed me and Shea a good time. We got a lot of one-on-one time with most of the coaches. I talked to both sides of the coaching staff. I talked to coach Sumlin about playing both sides. He brought it up to me. He let me know he watched my film so he knew what I could do and what I brought to the table. He showed me how much he wanted me to play for him and what kind of impact I could make on the team as a freshman. Overall my day was good."
In addition to speaking with coach Sumlin, White spent quality time with several other members of the A&M coaching staff.
"I sat down and had one-on-one time with coach Chavis, coach Hagen the linebackers coach, coach McKinney the running backs coach, and I spent a little time with the OC," White said. "Then my recruiting coordinator, coach Joseph, we got to talk a little bit."
White does not have his schedule planned out too far in advance, but a trip to Ole Miss with Shea Patterson next weekend for the Rebels' Junior Day is in the works.
When it comes to making his college decision and favorites, White is taking a similarly laid back approach. There was a time when it appeared he could be on the verge of deciding, but he has since decided to take a more open approach to the recruiting process.
"Right now I'm wide open. I'm going to visit as much as I can because at the end of the day I want to make the best decision. I came to the conclusion that I want to be on the field my freshman year so playing time is going to be a big factor. I feel like I have the work ethic to be on the field playing as a freshman."
Recently the standout linebacker and running back added another offer when the Louisville Cardinals reached out last week.
"We've been talking throughout the season," White said. "He was just checking in on me last year around track. They had a good year this last year, so he reached out to me on Facebook and said he needed me to call him. So I got to talk to them about what role they'd like me to play and they extended the offer. It was expected soon, but it wasn't expected at the time. He said he could see me playing both ways. It's just up to me and what I want to play in college. They're not recruiting me at a certain position."
As a junior, White rushed for 2,287 yards and 30 touchdowns on 270 carries. He is currently ranked No. 86 in the 2016 Rivals100, No. 5 among the nation's athletes, and No. 8 in the Rivals.com Louisiana Postseason Top 35 for 2016.
