Whitaker close to a decision

Recent rumors and speculation have led many to believe that quarterback Ike Whitaker is close to making a decision. Is that the case?
"Yes, I'm close," he said. "I'm just not sure how close yet. I'm to the point where I want to make my decision final before my season starts, but I'm not going to rush it before I know the right place for me. But I'm definitely going to be working to cut my list down and choose a school here shortly."

Previous reports indicated that Virginia Tech and Maryland were the two schools to beat for Whitaker. Is that still the case?
"Those two are in my top five for sure," he said. "But West Virginia, Florida and Clemson are right up there with them. I think each of those schools has an offense that I could be a great fit in.
"I've had a chance to visit Clemson, West Virginia, Florida and Virginia Tech this summer. And being here in Maryland I know plenty about their program too. So right now I don't think I'll need to take official visits, because I'm hoping I'll have a decision soon."
The 6-foot-4, 198-pound dual-threat quarterback from Germantown (Md.) Northwest has offers from all five of his leaders. As a junior he rushed for 670 yards and 11 touchdowns while passing for 1,240 yards and 23 scores.
