HOOVER, Ala. -- The defending national champions have also made a habit of winning recruiting titles in recent years. So while Nick Saban’s Alabama team arrived at SEC Media Days with veteran player representatives in tow, a few of the freshmen left behind in Tuscaloosa will likely become household names in due time.

Projecting performance isn’t an exact science. Players regress on occasion and outside factors take hold from time to time. Still, who better to predict which Alabama newcomers will impress than the Crimson Tide veterans that have been working out next to them since the 2016 class arrived on campus?

On Wednesday, each of the three Alabama SEC Media Day player representatives was asked to predict which freshmen will make the biggest splash during his time in Tuscaloosa. Their responses are below:

Senior tight end O.J. Howard:“I would probably say Raekwon Davis [has been most impressive] on defense. He’s done a great job. He has that size and that athleticism. He’s been standing out to me.

“On offense, Trevon Diggs, the receiver. He’s fast. He has that speed. He has good hands and runs good routes for a young guy.”

Senior defensive back Eddie Jackson: “I could say Shyheim Carter and Aaron Robinson. They take coaching and they come in and compete. They play fast. If they make a mistake, you come in and tell them to coach them up. They do it right the next time.

“We have receivers. Actually, Trevon Diggs is really doing a good job. He’s learning. He is a guy that can also take coaching, but he’s really taking to the weight room.”

Senior defensive lineman Jonathan Allen: “We have a lot of new guys impressing. Quinnen Williams and Raekwon Davis. They’ve just come in and ran with it when they first got in. They are picking up on the plays and picking up on our technique. They’ve done a heck of a job.”
