THE STORYLINE

Kenyon Green is a five-star offensive tackle who recently released a top 10 - and it looks like he’s going to take his time in making a commitment after backing off an early pledge to LSU.

The 6-foot-5, 315-pound prospect from Humble (Texas) Atascocita is still highly interested in the Tigers, lives less than two hours from Texas A&M and is also being heavily pursued by Texas and many others.

In March, Green had a top 10 of Texas A&M, LSU, Texas, Oklahoma, TCU, Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia and Arkansas. He is planning a round of official visits and the feeling is that he’s not feeling pressured to make a decision during the early signing period, which means Green could take until February.

Everybody is looking for a big score from the five-star offensive tackle. LSU could get him back in the fold. New Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher could land the local prospect. Texas could continue to establish its power with in-state recruiting. Oklahoma has had tremendous success dipping into Texas for top players especially this recruiting cycle.

So where does Green end up?

FIRST TAKE: NICK KRUEGER, RIVALS.COM TEXAS RECRUITING ANALYST

“There has certainly been a fair amount of smoke around Kenyon Green's interest in Texas A&M, but it's far from a foregone conclusion that the Aggies are a shoo-in for his commitment. He's kept a bit of a low profile with things outside of a couple visits this spring, but LSU - where he had previously been committed - is still very much in the picture, as is Alabama, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas and others.

"A&M, Oklahoma and Texas have all had success with recruits influencing other prospects into considering their teams more seriously as of late. But there isn't really another prospect who is connected to Green on that level, and he's going to make a decision on his own terms. The Aggies are certainly in the running, but they are not the clear-cut leader.”

SECOND TAKE: MIKE FARRELL, RIVALS.COM NATIONAL RECRUITING DIRECTOR

“After the initial commitment and then backing off the pledge to LSU, he’s going to weigh a lot of different options because there are a lot of different schools coming after him. It would be big for any of those programs because he’s a special talent.

“It’s hard to say his commitment would be bigger for A&M than it would be for Texas or somebody else - even LSU, because Ed Orgeron needs to step up the recruiting a bit there. I’m not sure where he’s going to land. I know he’s a very talented kid and he’s probably going to take his time with the second decision.”
