Sonny Dykes and TCU have added a priority target on offense as July inches towards a close.

Class of 2023 Round Rock (Texas) Stony Point running back Cameron Cook announced his pledge to the Horned Frogs on Tuesday night. Cook chose TCU over finalists Cal and Texas. Kansas State was also a big contender down the stretch.

The Horned Frogs prioritized Cook throughout the recruiting process. It was a full-staff effort for TCU, with running backs coach Anthony Jones and recruiting coordinator Bryan Carrington leading the charge.

The relationship that the Forth Worth program built with the running back ultimately paid off on Tuesday.

At 5-10 and 180, Cook is an all-purpose back that makes a difference as a rusher and as a receiver. He provides a dynamic element that made him an easy target for Dykes and company as the Horned Frogs look to load up on weapons on the offensive side of the ball.

Cook is an electric back in the open field. He uses his impressive field vision and shifty play style to elude tacklers and find open space. Cook averaged over eight yards per carry as a junior while playing Texas high school football competition just outside of Austin. He has untapped potential in the passing game, which the TCU staff will attempt to get the most out of on the collegiate level.

TCU has added commitments from wide receivers Cordale Russell, Rohan Fluellen, and Jordyn Bailey in addition to tight end Lafayette Kaiuway as the Horned Frogs stack talent at the skill positions. Cook provides Dykes and company with another offensive threat that can score from anywhere on the field.

Rivals rates Cameron Cook as a 5.7 three-star prospect, the No. 62 recruit in Texas, and the No. 9 all-purpose back in the 2023 recruiting cycle. He becomes the 16th recruit to commit to the Horned Frogs in Sonny Dykes' first full class in Funky Town.
