Whaley getting close, but not there yet

Beaumont (Texas) Central Rivals250 running Devwah Whaley is narrowing in on his decision, but he is not there yet.
"I mean I'm getting closer and closer," Whaley said. "I just want to take my time and just enjoy the process and take it day-by-day. "

Right now he has three college programs at the top of his list, all of them from the SEC.
"I would have to say Georgia, A&M, and Arkansas," Whaley said. "I mean all three of those programs I feel like they fit me and that's just where I'd be comfortable at."
His most recent trip was to Texas A&M. It was an unofficial visit, and it was a big game atmosphere. He has taken a few trips to College Station, and this time around he made sure to soak in the big game feel of Kyle Field.
"It was a great experience," Whaley said. "That stadium was loud. There was 105,000. It was just a great feeling. "
Whaley plans to return to Texas A&M for an official visit which is currently scheduled for the November 6 weekend.
He has already taken an official visit to Georgia. The visit to Athens was his first official visit and
"Oh man, it was great. I enjoyed it, every minute of it. Just the environment, the coaching staff, and even the players," Whaley said. "They went all out on the official. There were only a select few of us on official visits. It was just great. It was a great experience."
On his visit he was able to hang out with and learn from standout running backs Nick Chubb and Sony Michel.
"It was great. Both of them are great guys," Whaley said. "They're good people. Sony and Chubb they're real good friends with each other and just seeing that it motivates me to be better and strive to be where they're at right now."
He does not have any other official visits scheduled, but he does plan to take one to Arkansas. He also mentioned Texas as an official visit possibility.
The Oklahoma Sooners are also in consideration, but are currently outside his top list of schools.
At this time, Whaley is not sure when he will make his decision. Originally he planned to make his announcement at the Under Armour All-American game, but now he is unsure. He has given thought to making his choice before the game, and he could also wait until after.
Right now, he is still trying to figure it all out, and plenty of college coaches are paying close attention.
