Wetzel schedules an official

Pittsburgh (Pa.) Brashear offensive tackle John Wetzel holds a handful of scholarships. The 6-foot-7, 266-pounder has scheduled his first official visit. Where will he be headed?
"I'm going to Miami (Ohio) on December 12th for an official visit," he said. "I'll probably schedule more officials over the next couple weeks. I've still got to sort out the dates."

Currently Wetzel holds offers from Akron, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Miami (Ohio), Ohio and New Hampshire. Is anyone else close?
"UCF may take another lineman and Marshall really likes me," he said. "They told me I'm a high person on their board and they'll probably offer.
"Boston College has been in touch. They need to see me, they like my film. They want me to come down in December sometime. I'm also hearing from Connecticut and Pittsburgh."
Does he like any schools?
"All the schools that have offered me are the ones sticking out the most," he said. I just want to see the atmosphere at these schools and see if it fits me. I want to know the academics are good too and see how their programs are."
Wetzel recently wrapped up a 10-2 season.
"I played well," he said. "I had 70 tackles and 10 sacks. I got more weight on me this year, I was a little stronger and I knew the game better. I had better technique and it just felt easier."
