Westfield DB stays in state

Once a Mustang, always a Mustang.
Spring (Texas) Westfield Mustang Nick Sampson has seen his secondary mates commit over the last two months and figured it was his turn. Teammate and fellow cornerback Brodrick Brown verbally committed to Oklahoma State while Herman Mitchell verballed to Oklahoma this off season.

The 6-foot cornerback visited SMU last Friday and committed to the Mustangs Monday.
"I really liked the campus and the coaches during my visit last week," he said. "I called them back and said I wanted to commit to them. I was most impressed with their graduation rates. They graduate everyone and that is very important to me. I know if I get hurt that I've always gotten an education from a great school."
Sampson was an all-district selection as a junior and had five interceptions.
"Getting this decision made is a real weight off of me," he said. "I'm happy with my choice and now I can go out and concentrate on my senior season."
Sampson also had offers from the University of Houston and Arizona State, and had camped this summer at UTEP's one-day camp in Houston.
"What else I liked about SMU is that the coaches think I have a good shot at playing my freshman season," he said.
