Westbrook enjoys UConn visit

Coconut Creek (Fla.) North Broward defensive lineman Tevin Westbrook hit the road this past weekend for his second official visit. Westbrook, who previously visited Purdue, made his way to the University of Connecticut for his final visit during 2010.
"It was a nice trip, I enjoyed myself," Westbrook said. "The players were cool, the coaches were cool, and the campus was nice."

The 6-foot-6, 265-pound defensive lineman said that the bond that the team has stood out to him during his weekend visit.
"I would say the players and the family atmosphere stood out to me," Westbrook said. "The players and the coaches just have a real good relationship. It was real easy to get along with them and chill with them."
The three-star defensive end had an opportunity to sit down and speak one-on-one with head coach Randy Edsall.
"He just told me that he would like me to be part of the program and he thinks I can make a big impact there," Westbrook said. "He said they can use a guy like me as a bandit on the ends. He said if I get bigger I can go inside and outside. He said I would be a big part of the program because I can help in many ways.
"It is a good thing to be able to move around and not be a one-position player," Westbrook added.
While Westbrook's versatility would provide numerous opportunities for Westbrook to play, he knows that it takes hard work and determination to earn a spot after arriving on campus. For that reason, he isn't concerned about who the Huskies do and don't have on their defensive front.
"I am not really worried about depth charts," Westbrook said. "I am not saying I am going to come in and start as a freshman but I just don't worry about that. I plan to work hard wherever I go."
With two visits under his belt, the South Florida defensive lineman doesn't claim a leader at this point. He plans to possibly use all three of his remaining official visits in January to check out some other favorites.
"Possibly UNC, USF, and UCF," Westbrook said. "I have a trip scheduled to UNC for the weekend of January 14th."
Westbrook is currently participating in basketball for North Broward.
