West Virginia lands Rivals250 WR Mike Harley

Mike Harley’s commitment to West Virginia followed a familiar script. The process wasn’t unique or surprising. Instead, it unfolded in the way a lot of verbal commitments unfold.

A four-star wide receiver, Harley returned from a visit to West Virginia, reflected for roughly two hours, then decided to pull the trigger. It’s a script as old as the process itself -- the football-recruiting version of “dog bites man.”

“I’m home now but I was there at West Virginia all weekend,” Harley said. “I knew it was the right fit when I was there. It’s a great coaching staff at a school with great academics and a great campus,”

As excited as Harley is about the school itself, his enthusiasm is met when he begins talking about the fit. Harley sees the Mountaineers’ offense as made for his skill set. The excitement in his voice is audible when he begins to speak.

“They are going to use me in the slot for some of the time, but they will put be outside for deep balls, too,” Harley said. “They’re going to move me around depending on the plays and the situation.”

Harley attends Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas High School. He is ranked as the No. 34 wide receiver and the No. 222 overall prospect in the class of 2017.
