West Texas star makes his pick

Spearman, Texas, isn’t exactly a thriving metropolis, but for SMU it’s home sweet home. Home sweet home as in a new commitment for its class of 2005.
The Ponies have picked up a pledge from 6-foot-4, 240-pound Jeff Brock, a tight end. Brock visited SMU this past weekend and decided to go ahead and pull the trigger this evening after talking with the SMU coaches again.

“I liked everything about SMU,” Brock, who was also recruited by Houston and Air Force, said. “I think coach Bennett has a lot of good things going there. The program is starting to turn things around, and they’re winning some games. I think I could be a guy that helps them make a move toward winning even more games.
“I’m just excited that they wanted me to come play ball for them.”
Brock said he was recruited to play tight end, but with his size and frame he could project at a number of different positions.
